Getting started
Before your first ride
What is SaddleTalk?
SaddleTalk is a mobile app for riders and instructors. It gives you clear two-way audio during a riding session, and afterwards writes up the full story of the lesson with action points.
Who is SaddleTalk for?
Riders, instructors and anyone leading a group ride. Whether you're coaching a private lesson or heading out on a trail ride together, SaddleTalk keeps everyone connected.
Do I need to create an account?
Yes. You register with your first name and email address. It's free and only takes a moment.
Do I need special equipment?
No. Your phone and any Bluetooth earbuds or headset are all you need. Bone-conduction headsets work well under a helmet.
How do I get access?
SaddleTalk is in testing. Fill in the form on the homepage and we'll get in touch to get you set up.
Does my instructor need the app too?
Yes. Both of you install SaddleTalk. Your instructor joins your lesson with a code or by scanning a QR code.
Which phones does it work on?
iPhone and Android. There's also a small Apple Watch companion to mute or end a session from your wrist.
During a session
In the saddle
Does it work in a big outdoor arena or on the trail?
Yes. As long as your phone has Wi-Fi or mobile signal, distance doesn't matter.
How do others join my riding group?
When you start a session, a QR code appears on your screen. The others scan it with their phone camera and join instantly — no codes to type.
What's the difference between a Lesson and a Ride?
A Lesson is one rider and one instructor, and gets the full story of the lesson and action points afterwards. A Ride is group audio for up to 6 riders, without a lesson story.
Does it work well outdoors, even in windy conditions?
Yes. SaddleTalk filters out wind and background noise, so your voice stays clear in an outdoor arena or on the trail — even on a blustery day.
What happens if my earbuds disconnect?
Audio pauses and you see a small banner. Reconnect your headset and the session continues where it left off.
Can I mute myself?
Yes. The big mute button is easy to hit with gloves on, and it's on your watch too.
Lesson stories & privacy
After the lesson
How does the lesson story work?
During a lesson, what's said is written down and split by speaker. A few minutes after the lesson you get the full story of what happened, plus a list of action points, in the app.
Who can read my lesson stories?
Only you and the people who were in the session. We never share them with anyone else.
Can I delete a session?
Yes. Archive it to hide it from your history, or delete it for good — both from the session page.
Which languages does SaddleTalk understand?
Many. SaddleTalk understands lots of spoken languages, so your lesson is written up correctly whether you and your instructor speak English, Dutch, German, French or something else. The app itself is available in English and Dutch.
Still have a question?
We usually reply within a day.
